IT professionals continue to make good money in 2017
According jobsDB's Job Seeker Salary Report, salary adjustment for the job functions of information technology has been overperforming the market average in the past years, recording +6.0% in 2014, +5.2% in 2015 and +4.9% in 2016. This year, technology professionals have received an average of +5.3% salary rise, which along with the property segment is topping the list of all job functions. In general, Hong Kong salaries are up by an average of +3.9% in 2017.
Under the profession of IT, however, the pictures for different job positions vary significantly. Programmers and analyst programmers have won the most salary increment of +8.1% and +8.4% respectively. It may indicate that these specific roles are in great demand in the industry. IT managers, on the other hand, received a mere +1.2% hike.
On the bonus front, 52% of IT respondents received a bonus in 2017. The average bonus size was 1.4 times the basic monthly wage, slightly lower than the market average of 1.5 times.
